Transportation Programs

First launched in 1994, transportation services under the Transportation Program now accounts for 80% of the services provided by SSCAS.

The program operates on pre-purchased tickets. (Tickets can be obtained through the office.) A $6 ticket is good for one 1.5 hour round trip ride or portion thereof. Members wishing to schedule rides must book them at least two business days in advance.

Note: Our drivers and vehicles can accommodate personal walkers but not wheelchairs.

Who Are Your Drivers?

SSCAS maintains a list of pre-screened drivers to transport and assist members to their appointments throughout Edmonton. Drivers are basically volunteers who are paid an honorarium for the use of their vehicles.

Household Service Program

This is SSCAS's first program, launched in 1988. Services available under the Household Service Program include the following:

• Carpentry
• Housekeeping
• Yardwork
• Shopping
• Light electrical & plumbing
• Painting
• Snow removal

The cost to members for household service work is a maximum of $13.00 per hour, except housekeeping, for which there is a minimum two hour charge (i.e., $26.00 for two hrs)

SSCAS maintains a database of pre-screened service providers to assist members with personal tasks and household maintenance.
