How Do I Qualify for SSCAS?

Individuals wishing to access SSCAS services must apply, pay for and be approved for membership on a yearly basis. Membership is granted to those who meet the following criteria:

  • are over 65 years of age
  • reside south of the river
  • if single, income must not exceed $30,000 per year
  • if a couple, combined income must not exceed $50,000 per year

Exceptions to the above income thresholds may be applicable if the individual(s) has physical mobility challenges. Please contact the office for more information.

How Do I Apply for Membership?

Print and fill out this application form and bring or mail it to our office with your fee. (Note that the basic $10 membership fee applies to each person wishing to receive services. For example, if both you and your spouse want to have access to transportation, you will need to remit $20 in total for your annual membership fee.)

Our mailing address is SSCAS, Rm 106, 7814 83 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T6C 2Y8. If you want to stop by in person, we are open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays, except holidays.

Once accepted, you will be sent a package that outlines in detail how our programs work and how you can arrange for the services that you require.

What if I Don't Qualify for Membership?

If you don't live on the south side or otherwise don't meet our income threshold requirements but you still need help, give us a call anyway. We'll do our best to connect you with appropriate service agencies in your area.

We do our best to ensure that the information presented herein is accurate and current, but sometimes policy changes occur before we have the opportunity to update the website. SSCAS reserves the right to modify membership criteria and program guidelines without notice.
